Gravity
The most common products made from crude oil are transportation
fuels such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Others include petrochemicals used
in making synthetic rubber and polystyrene. When heavy oil is processed in refineries,
they also produce transportation fuels and some petrochemicals, as well as the
asphalt needed for road paving and roofing.
The “weight” of different crude oils is
Measured on the American Petroleum Intestate Gravity Scale (Degrees API).
